Existence: 1975-2001

Established by Executive Order No. 27 of March 21, 1975, as the Commission for Cultural Affairs. Became Advisory Commission under Local Law No. 6, 1976. Consists of not less than fifteen nor more than twenty-one members exlusive of a deputy mayor, the commissioner of cultural affairs, and the commissioner of parks and recreation who shall serve as ex-officio members. Members other than ex-officio members shall be appointed by the mayor for a term of three years. The mayor shall designate one of the members of the commission to be chairman and one to be vice-chairman. The commission shall advise the commissioner and the mayor with respect to cultural activities in the city.
