Scope and Contents: Charles J. Bensley served as a member of the Board of Education from 1948 to 1961. The series of subject files is limited almost completely to the period 1949-1952. Notable are files on various community organizations that Bensley corresponded with and those related to teachers, including the banning of the Teachers Union and the dismissal of teachers suspected of communist affiliations.
