Description
Accession consists of records from the Office of Neighborhood Government, including reports on budget, housing, and related issues. The Office was created in 1970 during the Lindsay Administration "to coordinate renewed attempts at decentralizing municipal operations." The Neighborhood City Halls Program, Operation Better Block, and Mobile City Halls Program were all incorporated into this new, central Office. By 1976, during the Beame Administration, the name of the Office changed to the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services. The Office had ceased to exist by 1978.
