Description

Accession contains correspondence, memos, reports, clippings, staff notes, photographs, and other materials documenting policy and functions of the Mayor's Office of the Criminal Justice Coordinator. This accession assumes added importance to the researcher since it documents the creation of the office (created by vote of electors in November 1975, first appointment to position in December 1976, went into operation January 1977. See Section 13 of 1977 edition of the City Charter) and subsequent growth of the agency. Contents include records relating to the Coordinator's role as Chairman of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and relating to the several mayoral and non-mayoral criminal justice agencies for which the office advises the Mayor regarding planning and cooperation.
