City Commission for the United Nations and for the Consular Corps correspondence files for 1967 to 1975


Description

The accession consists of correspondence files ("outgoing" only in many cases) of all administrative staff of the Commission for the United Nations, Consular Corps and Protocol from 1967 to 1975. The Commission personnel includes: Frances "Peter" Lehman Loeb, Commissioner; Executive Directors Sarah Goddard and Helen Johnson; Marcia L. Dawkins, Executive Assistant to the Commissioner; Legal Counsels Joan Elbaum, Joan Gordon, and Ceceil Gross; Alice Hollander, Office Manager; and various legal assistants and other staff. Filed at the end of the correspondence is a subject file on "Requests for assistance with immigration, 1968-1974" and a booklet which appears to be an operations or procedures manual for staff at the Commission. The manual is undated but contains the 1973 annual report for this office. Subjects of the correspondence concern assistance to the diplomatic community in locating housing; choosing school for their children; consumer education instruction to diplomat’s families; and legal assistance, among other subjects. Arranged alphabetically by surname of corresponding staff member and thereunder chronological by date of correspondence.
