New York County tax block maps for 1947 to 1967

Description

The accession consists of tax block maps, measuring 8.5 x 14 inches, of two similar but possibly separate types and series. The first, labeled, "Master (Cloth) Key Blocks 1 to 2255," are as indicated positives on cloth for all blocks in New York County and show block and lot numbers and measurements, date, scale, Register's name, plus data on changes in lot configuration during a particular time period (appears to be 10 to 20 years). The second group, which are labeled "Superseded Block Maps," include on selected blocks within the same range accompanied by double-sided negative stats. The criteria for supersession was not immediately apparent but might be simply major changes. Multiple copies of the positives were present. Preliminary processing was incomplete due to inaccessibility of records during relocation of the Municipal Archives. Arranged numerically by block number.
