Description

Nathan Leventhal served as Deputy Mayor for Operations during the Koch Administration from 1979-1984. He later served on the New York City Charter Revision Commission from 1986-1989. The accession consists of records created by the office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations during Leventhal’s tenure. Included are departmental and committee reports to the Mayor; copies of office of Operations audits and reviews for various aspects of New York City government functions; and various office of Operations planning documents. Subjects include the 1980 Transit strike; Food Stamp Program (1979); Prospect Park Preservation Plan (1980); New York City Fiscal Plan (1980-1983); Rikers Island Project (1979); and Unemployed Fathers Program and Welfare Program (1979), among other subjects.
