Description

The accession consists of microfilm of bound dockets containing handwritten information about cases referred to the Appellate Part of Special Sessions Court in the First Judicial Department, covering New York and Bronx counties. Each entry consists of the appeal number (one sequence for both counties, by year), appellant's name, attorney for the appellant, nature of offense, name of court of original jurisdiction and magistrate, date of conviction, sentence, date return filed, name of justices hearing appeal, date of the decision on the appeal, decision on the appeal, and remarks. Entries are arranged by appeal number. Each volume contains an alphabetical index by appellant's name indicating appeal number and entry page. Microfilm by Archives in two sequences, 1936-1949 and 1950-1962. Arranged chronologically.
