Department of Finance scrapbooks for 1952 to 1966
Description
The accession consists of bound scrapbooks of clippings. The clippings are of newspapers and periodical articles on real property taxation and assessment, particularly relating to the activities of the New York City Tax Department, later the Real Property Assessment Department, and the New York City real estate industry. There are some additional printed materials, such as programs of Department events and gatherings for employees. The Real Property Assessment Department became the Property Division in the Department of Finance in 1976. The material was found discarded by Andy Lanset at 1 Centre Street where the Property Division resided until 2001. The scrapbook pages and some clippings are acidified but not crumbling, and the clippings are legible. Arranged chronologically.
