Brooklyn Borough President quarterly reports for 1938 to 1962
Description
The accession consists of Brooklyn Borough President quarterly reports, 1938-1962. Except for three bound volumes, all of the other reports are loose. Some of these reports are accompanied by a letter of transmittal from the Borough President to the Mayor. Some of the very latest reports have a letter of transmittal from the Borough President to the Municipal Reference Librarian. Except for one instance, these reports are not printed but are typewritten (sometimes including carbon copies). In actuality, each report is subdivided and consists of reports submitted by various units of the Borough Presidents' Office (e.g. - Bureau of Engineering, Bureau of Sewers, etc.) to the Borough President. Upon occasion, there are some duplicate materials found. From these quarterly reports (which incidentally consist mainly of various figures) was extracted material which eventually found its way to the printed annual report which the Borough Presidents and other agencies submitted to the Mayor. These quarterly reports then could be considered working papers, in a sense. The Mayor's Office usually passed these reports on to the Municipal Reference Library. The Mayor's Office probably kept duplicate copies.
