Description

This accession of two bound volumes titled "Historical facts in connection with New York City bridges," compiled circa 1920, contain historical material on the fifty-six bridges that were within the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation’s Brooklyn, Queens, and Richmond bridge section. The volumes document the original need and intention of these structures, their progress in construction, and early alterations. Each volume contains a brief history of each bridge, statistical information on materials used in construction, labor costs, engineering drawings, and photographs. The two volumes were copied on acid-free paper and bound for use in the Reference Unit. The originals are housed in acid-free boxes.
