Brooklyn Borough President photographs circa 1948 to 1980
Description
The accession consists primarily of photo negatives; the most are black and white and are in a wide variety of formats from 5x7 inch to 35mm strips, though the most common format is 4x5 inch. There are five 8x10 glass plates, and a small number of color negatives. Also included are 50 color and black and white photo prints ranging in size from 8x10 inch to 3x5 inch. Although all the materials were placed in cubic foot boxes for transfer, some are in 4x5 inch and other sized original film boxes, paper sleeves, and envelopes. Identification varies from none, to general ID at the film box and sleeve level, to ID by individual negative. Subjects include group and individual portraits of staff and Borough Presidents, events, buildings, and aerials. Over 100 negatives are channeling and buckling and there is evidence deteriorating film stock is emitting gases.
