Mayor's Voluntary Action Center photographs circa 1967 to 2000

Description

The Mayor's Voluntary Action Center (MVAC), formed in 1967, was established to mobilize and recruit individuals and organizations (public, private, and not-for-profit) to participate in volunteer activities that strengthen communities throughout New York City. The accession consists of color and black and white photographs and negatives. The majority of the photographs are 3x5 inch color but there are also black and white 5x7 and 8x10 inch. Some of the photographs are in the form of an exhibit, mounted on foam core, with captions, done in 1987 for the Agency's 20th anniversary. People in volunteer settings are the main subject of the collection. Identification for individual photographs is fair, by date and/or subject. There is no formal arrangement; most identification for informal groups of photos is by subject. For similar material see Accession 2004-051.
