Description
The Regional Plan Association is a non-profit organization formed to assist municipalities in the tri-state region with the formulation of plans for long-term growth and development. In October 1987, they were first hired by the City of New York, on behalf of the Bronx Borough President's Office, to prepare a preliminary survey assessing the Bronx's assets, liabilities, recent progress, and prospects for rehabilitation. The accession contains materials generated by the Regional Plan Association as part of this project. Included are correspondence, memoranda, notes, interviews, and reports. Of particular interest are a series of interviews with public officials and community leaders conducted by the Project Manager, You Mon, which can be found in the interview folders. Also Included is information relating to the four Task Forces formed: Cultural and Environmental Quality; Economic Development; Health, Education, and Human Services; and Housing and Neighborhoods which are grouped together at the end of the accession.
