Croton Reservoir glass plate negatives circa 1900 to 1939

Description

The glass plate negatives (mainly 8 x 10 inches) depict the construction of the Croton Reservoir at various stages and processes. There are about 70 negatives, however, because some of the glass is broken, it is difficult to count the exact number. Most of the negatives (66) are 8 x 10 inches; four are 4 x 5 inches. The Museum of the City of New York received the negatives when they accepted prints of the Croton Reservoir. The Museum's accession report is sketchy but did indicate that the negatives were at Jerome Pipe Yard, Pumping Station at 3201 Jerome Avenue in the Bronx.
