New Utrecht town records circa 1650 to 1894
Description
New Utrecht was founded in 1657 and received a town charter in 1660. In 1894, it was merged with the City of Brooklyn. The town records are comprised of bound volumes containing original documents or certified copies of original documents and bound volumes containing transcriptions and translations (for original documents written in Dutch) provided by the Commissioner of Records for Kings County. The volumes contain a variety of types of records (e.g. account books, oaths of office, assessment rolls, minutes) from various town offices (e.g. Highway Commission, Commissioner of Common School, Supervisor's, Street Improvement Commissioner) circa 1650-1894 (with gaps). Some of the original volumes are indexed. The transcription/transliteration volumes are indexed. Volume list attached. Arranged numerically.
