Department of Public Welfare public solicitation closed cases from 1930 to 1976
Description
This accession consists of case files which were prepared by the Department of Public Welfare (DPW). It was responsible for the licensing and investigation of organizations which solicited or intended to solicit funds in New York City. The information gathered includes: correspondence, investigative memoranda, news clippings, pamphlets, and artifacts, however, the case numbers are not sequential, indicating that a selection may have been made before the transfer to the Human Resources Administration storage area. Perhaps, the cases can be interfiled with the previous accession of 123 cubic feet. Materials are arranged numerically.
