Description

Accession consists of two albums containing photo prints of people, places and events, the bulk of which are in New York City. Other locations photographed include: Cornell University (1887), St. Paul and Lake Minnetonka, Washington D.C., the Shenandoah Valley, Aurora New York, Yale University, and the Erie Canal. Events photographed include: the Admiral Sampson Parade, August 20, 1898, in honor of his defeat of the Spanish Fleet at Santiago, Cuba; the Dewey Parade on September 30, 1899, upon his return from the Philippine Islands after destroying the Spanish fleet; beginning work on New York's first subway in City Hall Park, 1901, and the parade in honor of Chinese Statesman Li Hung Chang's visit to the United States in August 1896.
