Multiple Dwelling Law records from 1927 to 1937


Description

The records document the activities of the Temporary Commission to Examine and Revise the Tenement House Law and the subsequent passing of the law. The twenty-six bound volumes of the "Multiple Dwelling Law" contain reports of the Commission, transcripts of hearings, drafts of the law, amendments, and clippings. The Commission, organized on 1927 May 17, appointed Harold Riegelman as counsel. The first volume has the original letter to Riegelman appointing him counsel to the Commission. Riegelman was later appointed Special Assistant Attorney General to defend the Multiple Dwelling Law. Arrangement of materials is chronological.
