This accession consists of letter books Numbered 1 through 149, spanning from May 4, 1905 through December 28, 1979, containing onionskin or carbon copies of correspondence to individuals and corporations from the Bureau of Franchises. They concern the application for franchise, related documentation for a review of the application, and the awarding and contractual review of franchise contracts. There are occasional letters concerning criticism of franchise services. Proceeding the correspondence in the sequential numbered volumes, there is an alphabetical index by name of corporate or individual addressees, and the manuscript version from which it was transcribed. Arrangement of materials is chronological.
