This accession is comprised of one volume, approximately 17 x 11 x 3 inches, identified on the spine as "Journal B, Mar. 1813 to May 1820, Commissioners of the Sinking Fund." A sinking fund is a fund set up and accumulated by usually regular payments or interest-bearing deposits for paying off the principal of a debt when it falls due. There are individual and corporate entries under categories such as Common Lands, Docks and Slips Rent, Ferries, Ground Rent, Manhattan Stock, Market Fees, and Mayoralty Fees. Under the category Sinking Fund to Sundries there are entries for hack licenses, pawn brokers licenses, tavern licenses, and vaults as well as interest on City stock, bonds payable, and commutation of wheat quit rent.
