Channel L Working Group videotapes for 1977 to 1991
Description
This accession consists of 1,727 tapes representing the visual documentation of 14 years of public affairs programming by the Channel L. Working Group, Inc, which is a non-profit. The videotapes include programs either produced or scheduled by Channel L Working Group for Channel L, the New York City government access channel. In either 10 x 7.5 x 1.5 inch or 8.5 x .5 inch cases, reflecting respectively 60 or 30 minute formats, the videotapes offer programs by the Brooklyn Museum, Community Boards, New York City Congressmen, and city agencies. Other city-oriented programs focused on the activities of the Greater New York Fund, League of Women Voters, and Municipal Art Society, and the Natural Resources and Defense Council. In discussion formats such as Eastside Report, Westside Report, Manhattan at Large, and Video Spectrum, the programs presented the view of civic leaders and experts on topical subjects. Furthermore, there is .05 cubic feet of research material which includes photographs of New York City (1912-1930s), various photographs of court houses, avenues and streets, and elevated railways.
