Description

This accession is comprised of various editions of New York City newspapers published on May 25, 1904, the day of the cornerstone laying of the abattoir of the New York Butcher's Dressed Meat Company. There is an edition of, "The City Record" for May 18, 1904. These items were among the contents of the 8 x 8 x 18 inch, cooper container placed in the building's cornerstone. This time capsule was removed from the building, which is to be demolished, and conveyed by Richard Brotherton of the Landmarks Preservation Commission to the Municipal Archives, where it was opened November 21 1991. Materials are arranged alphabetically.
