Elizabeth Holtzman was elected City Comptroller in 1989 for a four year term to advise the Mayor, the City Council, and the public of the City's financial condition, and make recommendations on City operations, fiscal policies, and financial transactions. The Comptroller also investigates all matters relating to the City's finances and issues, and sells City obligations. This accession contains correspondence, memos, notes, reports, and printed material. General correspondence is included under "G" and arranged within by surname of staff members. There is some correspondence arranged chronologically, consisting mostly of material sent to city agencies. Files are partially divided by New York State, New York City and United States agencies. A folder level inventory was prepared by the creating agency. Materials are arranged alphabetically.
