New York County Supreme Court condemnation proceedings and exhibits in support of condemnations for 1946 to 1964
Description
This accession consists of photographs, attached real estate appraisals, and other claimants’ exhibits. Photographs document buildings demolished for public purposes, particularly housing or other projects in Manhattan. There are exterior and interiors, showing considerable detail of residential and business spaces. Most of the photographs or sets of photographs are identified by one or more of the street address, block and lot number, or project name, such as the Alfred Smith Houses. Additionally, some have case file or damage parcel numbers. Although the typical arrangement should be by block and lot or case number, the materials have been placed in alphabetical order by project name or general location. A small number of items are unidentified. About half the photographs are bound in albums. The majority are black and white, 8 x 10 inches.
