Description

Jerome Hornblass, appointed Commissioner of the Addiction Services Agency in 1974 by Mayor Abraham D. Beame, was responsible for providing treatment and preventive services for alcohol and drug addiction in city facilities and oversight for similar contracted services. This accession consists of correspondence, memos, reports, notes, speeches, press releases, clippings, printed material, telephone messages, and an appointment book. It was used by the Commissioner for policy reference and to track day to day operations. Correspondence is with the Mayor and other members of the administration, public officials, and affiliated service providers. A portion of the material, originally maintained by Hornblass as an advisor on addiction from 1970 to 1973 to then Comptroller Beame, was retained for reference. Materials are arranged alphabetically by year.
