Chief Medical Examiner accession records for 1927 to 1991
Description
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was established in 1918. This accession consist of bound volumes arranged chronologically by borough. The volumes register all bodies received by the City Morgue during the course of the Medical Examiner's investigation, further documenting the cases recorded in accession 1998-036. Although the information recorded varied through the years, it generally includes: case number, name of deceased, last residence, age, sex, marital status, date and time of death, box number, police precinct, whether or not an exam and autopsy were performed, examiner's name, date death certificate issued, and cause of death. Staten Island is not represented. Arrangement of materials is chronological by borough.
