Chief Medical Examiner day record of bodies for 1962 to 1987
Description
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was established in 1918. This accession consists of bound volumes used for the daily recording of bodies which arrive at the City morgue. Although it records the same bodies as accession 1998-037, some of the information differs. For example, there is no medical information listed. Information recorded includes: number assigned the body, time arrived, name of deceased and age, where body transferred from, box number, certificate, when body claimed, which City mortuary, permit number, remarks concerning race, documentation, and clothing. The volumes come from Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn and are arranged chronologically under each borough.
