Joint Commission on Integrity in the Public Schools survey files for 1989

Description

The Commission, known informally as the Gill Commission, chaired by James Gill, was formed in 1988 to investigate corruption, impropriety and mismanagement in the operation of the New York City public school system. This accession consists of questionnaires which were sent to board members, superintendents, principals, teachers, and other staff. The 24 page questionnaire solicited opinions and information in ten areas, at district and school level, including parents, unions, personnel decisions, the inspector general, drugs, district-level decision making, and decentralization. The results were utilized as a means of preliminary investigation into problems in the system. Arrangement is numerical by school district, thereunder by last name of respondent.
