Bureau of Franchises maps and drawings for 1887 to 1975
Description
The Bureau of Franchises was part of the Board of Estimate from 1905 to 1990, transferred by the City Charter of 1990 to the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation. This accession consists of construction drawings, site plans, and maps. The maps include sectionals, wall, street, and transportation route maps, and others used for general reference by the Bureau and accompanying submissions of drawings and site plans. The drawings and site plans include linens, photostats, and blueprints. They represent new infrastructure construction, particularly related to transportation. The majority appear to have been submitted by franchise holders or applicants. Some of the drawings are arranged by a numerical system similar to that for accession ACC-1999-026.
