Department of Parks and Recreation posters for 1963 to 1999
Description
The accession consists of twenty-seven posters. The majority of the posters were generated by the Department of Parks (predecessor agency (1898-1968) to the Department of Parks and Recreation). A few serve as maps and brochures as well and are printed on both sides. They were used to publicize and provide information about Parks Department facilities and events as well as those events conducted by other entities related to the Parks Department. There are posters for Parks Clean Up Days, the New York Shakespeare Festival at the Delacorte Theater, and the reopening of renovated City Hall Park. Many of the posters are in color. They range in size from 44x28 inches to 14x11 inches and are generally in good condition. The paper strong with only a few tears and folds.
