Description

The material consists of architectural renderings and photographs. They were used for planning and presentation of various bridge projects. There are five renderings: 1) Proposed Vernon Avenue Bridge-Newtown Creek, pencil on paper, by Chiljean, 1940; 2) New Vernon Avenue Bridge-Brooklyn/Queens, Photostat, by Chiljean, 1946; 3) Proposed Welfare Island Bridge-Approach, Photostat, by W. Jensen, circa 1945; 4) Unidentified bridge across a waterway and rail yard, Photostat, AG Lorimer, 1944 (backed on board with partial print of Ferry W R Hearst circa 1929); 5) "View of East River from North of Ward's Island," charcoal on paper on mounting board, by Thomas Hastings circa 1929. There are three photographs: composite sheets of photographs of Bascule Bridge (16.5(H) x 20 inches (W)), circa 1938; and Arch Bridge (18x20 inches), circa 1938; and a color photogravure of Croton Aqueduct/Reservoir, circa 1940. The material is in good condition except for some minor curling and cockling.
