Memorabilia from the 2006 memorial service for the victims of the 2001 World Trade Center attack
Description
On September 11, 2006, Mayor Michael Bloomberg held a memorial service at World Trade Center (WTC) site for the victims of the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001. Family and friends gathered at the service and placed assorted memorabilia into and around the two, water-filled reflecting pools set up on the North and South "footprints" of the WTC. Included are American flags, ribbons, artificial flowers, buttons, candles, greeting cards, fliers, letters, photographs (framed and unframed), religious items, stuffed toys, T-shirts, and related material. Of particular note are two natural floral wreaths placed by President George W. Bush in each of the two reflecting pools. The artifacts are stored in cubic foot boxes and oversize boxes. The manuscript items are stored in half cubic foot boxes and oversize boxes. A portion of the paper material is soiled, water stained, and torn.
