Board of Estimate computer project administrative files for 1988 to 1993

Accession ACC-2006-094. Unprocessed - RG 014. New York City Council

Description

The Board of Estimate was the City's chief financial and decision making body. It existed pre-Consolidation until 1990, when it was abolished as being unconstitutional in its representation and powers. In 1989, when it was finally decided that the Board would cease to exist, efforts were made to complete the final years' documentation of the Board's operation, automate, and microfilm it, as well as some documentation from earlier years. The Department of Records and Information Services would collaborate on this project. The records were used by Board of Estimate personnel to undertake that project but it was not finished. The accession consists of correspondence, memoranda, notes, calendar projects, computer systems, Journals of Proceedings, computer service requests, technical brochures, budget hearings, meeting records, and samples of forms. It is arranged alphabetically by subject.
