Photographs showing views of New York City buildings, places, and scenes circa 1925 to 1930
Description
The accession consists of thirteen 8x10 inch black-and-white photographic prints. They are original prints. The photographs were created by different city agencies and institutions, but only four are identified by a caption and a few are dated. The four identified photos are: Superintendent of School Buildings; Parks Department; the American Museum of Natural History; and the Department of Finance. Some of the unidentified photos show a fire truck leaving a fire house; several views of parks, playgrounds, and schools; and a child being brought to a Department of Hospitals ambulance. The photos are from a larger group of more transit-related photos given to the New York Transit Museum by a private individual. There are a number of identifying marks on the photos to suggest they may have been associated, possibly for a publication or display, by the administration of Mayor Jimmy Walker to promote its work. A list accompanies the photos.
