Description
This accession consists of approximately 1,200 cubic feet of documents and approximately 1,000 cubic feet of oversize rolled architectural drawings relating to the construction or alteration of buildings in Manhattan south of 14th Street, arranged according to block and lot number. The permit correspondence and related documents ('block and lot folders') include official building forms (with specifications), correspondence, related legal papers, and permits. The architectural plans, typically blueprints or similar types of photo-reproductions, comprise the working documents of the design, construction, and alteration of buildings in lower Manhattan for roughly a century.
