Calendar of cases in New York County for 1946 and 1948

Description

The accession consists of two bound volumes of calendar of cases in Manhattan for the years 1946 and 1948. The ledgers were most likely used by the District Attorney's Office for New York County to track cases. Each daily entry lists: the Part of the Court where a case was heard (most likely Supreme Court, General Sessions, or Criminal Court); name (presumably the presiding judge); name of the defendant and the case number; the nature of the crime committed; and the legal procedure being considered on the calendar date. In the third column is a name (presumably the attorney) either for the defense or more likely for the prosecution from the District Attorney's Office. The volumes are adapted accounting ledgers. The provenance/transfer of the ledgers to the Municipal Archives is unknown. Arranged chronologically.
