Description
Mary Perot Nichols (d. 1996) served twice as president of what is now WNYC; first when it was operated by the City of New York as the Municipal Broadcasting System and again after the name was changed to WNYC Communications Group in 1989. She was first appointed in the role in 1978 by Mayor Edward I. Koch. The accession consists of correspondence, memoranda, notes, printed material, clippings, and reports. There are also records of Laura Kane, who was most likely an assistant to the Director, and possibly material from other assistants. The material was used for planning the activities and carrying out the daily operations of the WNYC television station. Subjects include individual programs such as "Neighborhood Voices;" other City agencies; and other communications organizations and businesses. The accession is related to Accession 2005-089, Mary P.
