City Commission for United Nations, Consular Corps and International Business arbitration and mediation case files for 1994

Description

During the Giuliani Administration the two formal Divisions were formed under the New York City Commission for the United Nations, Consular Corps and International Business: the Division for the United Nations and Consular Corps and the Division for International Business and United Nations. The Commission acts as official liaison between the Mayor and the members of the United Nations and Consulate resident communities in New York City. The staff offers legal and other problem solving assistance (as if ombudsmen) to diplomats and researches questions and policy issues arising from the United Nations and foreign government offices and their staff in New York City. The accession consists of correspondence, memoranda, case summary sheets, notes, and some attachments of printed material. When the problem solving function concerning an issue reached a certain level, a case was created. The case summary sheets indicate the area of legal issue; date initiated; caseworker; name of country or individual involved; nature of correspondence; nature of resolution; and the case file name. The material is arranged alphabetically by the case file name.
