Description
The Mayor's Office of Special Projects and Community Events organized, managed, and directed all public ceremonies, celebrations, and receptions held at the request of the Mayor. The accession consists of draft and final proclamations and citations, correspondence, memoranda, notes, and printed material. Proclamations were issued to commemorate a day or week for some purpose, such as to honor an individual or group or to celebrate a social or cultural event. The certificates were issued, usually to individuals, to honor meritorious service to government or the social and cultural life of New York City. The records are arranged alphabetically by subject or proper name and usually include information relating to the request approval and preparation.
