Assessed valuation of property in New York City index cards for 1934 to 1937

Description

The accession consists of 5x7 inch index cards that contain an assessed real estate valuation of New York City owned properties in the five boroughs. The front of each card indicates the borough; ward; volume; block and lot number of the property; and whether or not improved in its first section. The second section indicates who owned the property (either a New York City unit or New York State) and to whom it was transferred and the date of transfer (usually left blank). The third section gives the date and amount of the valuation. The verso shows a map of the property that gives dimensions, block and lot numbers, surrounding streets, and compass orientation. Overall arrangement is by borough. It could be further arranged numerically (lists can be found in the boxes) or alphabetically by the name of the unit.
