The accession consists of correspondence bound in letterpress copybooks that documents the outgoing correspondence of the Director of the Bureau of Franchises, Morris Tarshis (1919-2006). The correspondence is with firms seeking or holding franchises, New York City and New York State agencies, elected officials, and members of the Administration. Some of the correspondence deals with routine office operations, but the majority concerns matters of reviewing initial applications for franchises and granting and renewing them. The copybooks are in excellent condition although the paper is thin. Arranged chronologically.
