Description

Stanley M. Isaacs served in New York City Council, representing a Manhattan district, from 1941 until his death in 1962. He last served as Republican Minority Leader. He had been Manhattan Borough President from 1938 to 1941. He served on most City Council committees, as he was often the sole Republican on the Council. The accession consists of agency reports; copies of City Charters and Administrative Codes; Mayoral annual reports; directories; City Council investigations; legal cases; New York State reports; periodicals; and related City government materials. The materials were used by Isaacs for reference and research in drafting legislation and investigating government operations, areas in which Isaacs was extremely active.
