Estate vouchers of decedents issued by the Public Administrator for 1891, 1895
Description
The Public Administrator is an agency of the City of New York and each borough has its own Public Administrator. The Public Administrator of each of the five boroughs within the City of New York administers the estates of residents in their county who die without a will and no one else is eligible or willing to administer the estates. The accession consists of estate vouchers. They are an accounting by the Public Administrator of the distribution of the assets of individual estates, including administrative expenses. They were forwarded to the Office of the Comptroller to issue funds and indicate the date of the voucher; name of decedent; balance of the estate; check numbers; amount; who it was to be issued to; and if a residual balance was left. The copies of the document were filed with the Office of the Comptroller. The documents were originally tri-folded but have been partially flattened. There is no index. The accession is related to Accession 2009-129, letters of administration. Arranged chronologically.
