Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge construction or repair photographs circa 1890 to 1908

Description

The material consists of four black-and-white photographs measuring 5 x 7 inches. Two of the photographs show views of mechanical apparatus for construction or repair of one of the East River Bridges (if construction, probably the Manhattan Bridge). One appears to face the Brooklyn shore and the other the Manhattan shore. They are sepia toned, mounted on board, and are in excellent condition. The third photograph shows the Manhattan Bridge under construction with the shore in the background. It is [torn?] in two pieces. The fourth is a studio portrait of a man. The photos were found with other material transferred to the Municipal Archives, including the main collection of Brooklyn Bridge drawings, and material comprising Accession 2009-139.
