Assorted Comptroller Records, 1820-1969
Description
The majority of the records contained in this accession are tied to the financial record keeping of the Comptroller's Office, including overseeing the work of the Chamberlain. The records are piecemeal and do not represent a wholesale accounting of specific agencies. Instead they touch on a variety of agencies and subjects at various periods of time. The accession contains the following record types: correspondence to and from the Comptroller, Deputy Comptroller, Auditor of Accounts, Bureau of Real Estate, and other offices under the auspices of the Comptroller; Board of Education financial records, such as bills, invoices, payrolls, supplies, etc. circa 1900-1901; public library records, such as accounts, vouchers, services, and orders for New York, Brooklyn, and Queens Public Libraries; leases, deeds, and sales of city-owned property, most of which are pre-consolidation; and miscellaneous papers.
