Description
The material consists of orders, summons, complaints, affidavits, bill of particulars, indictments, printed material, and other legal documents. One group contains individual filings related to various cases. Another consists of indictments for forgery and counterfeiting. The largest group, about 3/4 of the records, consists of multiple filings relating to the same case, constituting partial case files. The litigants include the State of New York, New York City mayors, members of the Vanderbilt family, Sailors' Snug Harbor and railroads. The forgery indictments include attached bank notes and checks. The documents are tri-folded and moderately embrittled. There is no discernible arrangement.
