Department of Parks and Recreation Personnel Bureau employee cards circa 1860 to 1940


Description

This accession consists of personnel records, handwritten on single-sided card, usually 6 x 5 inches, for each employee. Indicated are name, address, civil service title, and dates of employment. Under dates of employment appears permanent or temporary status, changes in title, periods of leave, transfers/changes in work location, and changes in rates of pay. The name of the employee's foreman, initial work location, employee's age and veteran status and termination dates, causes of termination, notice of death, and retirement are sometimes given. There are between 7,000 and 10,000 employee service cards. Additionally there are approximately 200 3 x 5-inch employee signature cards. The records are stored in acid-free boxes and are in good condition. Department of Parks and Recreation staff prepared a detailed report on these records. It will be attached to the accession record. This accession is arranged alphabetically.
