Video of the Committee on Government Operations hearing on the Giuliani mayoral records for 2002

Description

This accession consists of three copies of two VHS tapes, or six tapes. The first tape is two hours in duration and the second is 45 minutes. The video shows a February 20, 2002 hearing of the Committee on Government Operations. The hearing was held to investigate the matter of Mayor Giuliani's records, taken into custody in 2001 by a non-city-governmental entity, the Rudolph Giuliani Center, which intended to have the records processed and duplicated privately. The hearing included testimony from Idilio Gracia-Pena, Ann Philips, Robert Morris, Richard Lieberman, Janet Linde, Mike Wallace, Donna Lieberman and Gene Russianoff from public advocacy groups, Brian Andersson, Michael Cordoza and Jeffrey Friedlander from the Law Department, and a representative from the Rudolph Giuliani Center. The testimony frequently touched on broad issues concerning the functions and purpose of the Municipal Archives. There is no arrangement scheme for this accession.
