Staten Island transit workers personnel files for 1923 to 1927

Description

This accession consists of form records and correspondence concerning personnel actions. They comprise the files of about six transit workers, mainly trolley operators on the transit lines on Staten Island, which was then under the jurisdiction of the Department. During the period 1919-1927 city transit included trolley cars, trackless trolleys (a type of electric bus with tires, powered by overhead lines), and gas operated buses. There are different sets of papers for each employee that include hiring, resignations and transfers, and disciplinary actions for negligence and fare theft. The material is arranged alphabetically
